The club band

The club band, known as The North Staffs Accordion Band, has about seventeen members, is mixed in ability and first came into being in March 1988.

The band music is usually divided into four parts equivalent to soprano, alto, tenor and bass and there is also a drummer. The bass section consists of double bass and miked accordion playing just the buttons (the bass) and these are the only amplified instruments.

Several of the pieces  the band play are arranged by members of the band.

The band’s conductor is Geoff Millward, and he has been  conducting the band for  several years. He is a well-known percussionist with first class orchestras including The North Staffs Symphony, has performed for twenty five years in orchestra pits and has many years of experience with brass bands and dance bands.
